1. They need to be committed to their marriage,
    
2. They need to place their partner’s best interests above, or at least equal to their own,
    
3. Communication is critical, and
    
4. Each must continually strive to be the best person they can be.

It is almost impossible for a marriage to succeed long-term unless both partners accept and adhere to these principles.
